2009 Best of Books List

Last year will go on record as the worst year ever for me reading books. How bad was it? My average for the previous five years was 150 books read a year. This last year I checked in at a measly 70. This is a direct by- product of my becoming a full time writer again. I started writing the first novel in March and the second in June. More writing equalled less reading.

This next year I plan on carving more time out of my schedule for reading. Less TV and video games (although video game minutes took a big hit this last year also). I love reading and over my winter break I got some great reading time in before getting sick.

I went through my measly list of books and pulled out my ten favorites from the year. Some of them came out during this past year, others were books I finally got around to reading. It was a light year on the mystery novel front and I was surprised to have only one mystery on the list. These books tickled my reading fancy for various reasons.
