Keepers Week 4

Ah, so many plans for my writing this weekend but it all went up in a fiery ball of technology fail. Don’t get me wrong, I still got my minimum word count done. The problem was I wanted to spend some time formatting the manuscript so I could print it out and Sheri could start reading it. I also wanted to start working on my changeover to a WordPress blog. This also did not happen.

I spent all day working on tech crap yesterday (see yesterday’s blog) and then was greeted with the wonderful news upon waking up this morning that Sheri’s computer wouldn’t start. It seems the machines did not take my apology yesterday and decided to fry Sheri’s hard drive.

So today I spent all day making Sheri’s computer work again (okay I admit I also watched some rugby. I seemed to have become hooked on rugby, go figure). Well, I guess there is always tomorrow. The good news is my novel is rolling right along. I passed the 30,000 word mark today. This means I have written more in a month then I did all last year working on the Steampunk novel. I guess this would be a good indicator that I am feeling the novel.

This puts me exactly 1/3 of the way to my original word goal. I have no idea if I am still going to come in around 90,000 but I am starting to feel I will probably go a little longer than that. How much longer I have no clue. I am still kind of new to this whole novel thing. Maybe by the time I get to the 5th or 6th one I will have the whole thing down.

The story is flowing good. Plot points continue to come together and the characters back stories are unfolding nicely inside the story. I know I have one character whom I am going to have to go back and fix. I changed some of his story and one of his aliases. I also introduced a relationship I had not intended, so I will have to fill that part of the back story in. It’s like a big jigsaw puzzle and putting the pieces together is where all the joy is.

Despite the technology fail I am still a joyful writer. I think after I get things formatted correctly I will start giving my wonderful readers a sneak peak (like how I assume you want one). Come on back next week and prepare to be amazed. If your not amazed I might have to point the terrible force of the machine take over in your direction. In fact I think I might just do it anyway. We can’t afford to have anymore technology failure. I don’t think my brain could handle it.
