The Dark Lands Week 2

Well, week 2 is now in the books and I am still making my goal. I have been tempted on a couple of days to go over the goal but have refrained. I like that I have been constantly thinking about writing. I always stop in the middle of some action and it has been fairly easy to pick back up.

I think that at some point I will increase my daily word count but right now it is just about getting on a roll and building writing stamina. I know I can finish the book but I want to finish it in a timely manner. Not that I have been working on this book forever. At my current pace I believe that I will be done by early May. I am at 15,000 words and counting.

The story is still coming together and I have surprised myself a few times with where the story has gone. I am very happy with some parts of the story but there is going to have to be some work in the 2nd draft stage. I decided when I started that I wasn’t going to do any rewriting until I was done with the first draft.

My plan is still to submit this book but I have no real expectations. I am still having a blast writing and really this whole process is about getting better at the craft of writing. My big question now is what do I do when I finish the book. My plan right now is that this will be a four book series. I am not sure if I should go right into book 2 or go onto another project. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there. It’s nice to know that I am thinking beyond this book.

In the other cell Tiffany could hear Mia begin to sing. Tiffany knew the song. Her parents had taught it to her. Mia started to sing louder. As Mia got louder children from other cells began to sing with her. The song echoed downed the hallway. Loud and beautiful. Tiffany looked up at Harrick with tears dripping from her eyes and smiled. Harrick flung her by her hair into the wall.
